New Tattoo

I got a tattoo yesterday as a birthday present to myself. It has whimsical stars in bright colors, connected with dotted lines like a constellation. It says, “Stars can’t shine without darkness” under it. Each star represents someone in my life who was there for me during some of my darkest times.

I used that quote as it has helped me in accepting my depression is a part of me. Also the deeper meaning for this tattoo is that sometimes we have people in our lives that have a profound effect on our lives and these people were the light to help me see in my darkness. These are the type of friends that even if you haven’t seen each other or talked in years they would still show up for you.

I had planned this tattoo when Michaela was alive and long before I met a few others that might be added to it one day, but mostly the stars are from friends I have known almost 25 years or more there are a few exceptions, but still have impacted my life in immeasurable way.

The first bigger pink star is Michaela. She loved dressing in that color of pink. It looked  so good on her so glad I could get that color for her star. I love how it turned out and so thankful Arron at Calamity Jane’s here in Grand Junction could pull together my thoughts and rough ideas to give me exactly what envisioned.
